Army Deploys 6,195 Fresh Combatants to Strengthen Operational Capacity
The Nigerian Army is set to induct 6,195 newly trained regular combatants into its ranks to bolster its manpower and enhance overall operational readiness across various theatres of engagement nationwide.
The recruits, who are part of the 88 Regular Recruit Intake (88RRI), commenced their training on January 13 at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State. After undergoing six months of rigorous military instruction, they have successfully completed the programme and will officially graduate during a passing out parade.
Initially, 6,450 candidates were enlisted for the training, but 255 were unable to complete the course.

The passing out parade is expected to be reviewed by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who will formally welcome the new soldiers into the Nigerian Army’s active service.
According to military sources, the new recruits will be deployed across the country to support ongoing operations against various security threats, including terrorism, banditry, and insurgency. They will also undergo further specialised training tailored to their areas of assignment to enhance effectiveness in the field.
The deployment is part of the Army’s continuous efforts to maintain combat readiness and respond effectively to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
