LAKE CHAD: Troops Neutralize Dozens of Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists in Foiled Attack on Naval Base
Nigerian military forces under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a coordinated infiltration attempt by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists targeting the Naval Base in the Lake Chad area of Borno State, neutralizing scores of insurgents in the process.
According to a statement released today on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army, the terrorists launched the attack around 2:00 a.m., aiming to destroy newly acquired Swamp Boggeys—heavy-duty equipment recently procured by the Borno State Government to enhance waterways clearance operations in the Lake Chad region.

The Nigerian Navy personnel stationed at the Lake Chad Fish Dam base swiftly engaged the attackers in a fierce firefight, with reinforcements deployed from Baga town. The exchange of gunfire lasted over two hours, after which the terrorists were forced to retreat, suffering heavy casualties.
While the Swamp Boggeys remained intact, a minimal incursion by the terrorists led to the destruction of an ambulance and two other vehicles. Some personnel sustained injuries during the encounter, but no loss of life among the troops was reported as of press time.
In a decisive follow-up action, air assets were deployed and are currently conducting aerial pursuit and bombardment along the waterways to further decimate the retreating terrorists and disrupt their operational capabilities.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to protecting strategic assets and maintaining pressure on insurgent groups in the North East, particularly in volatile areas like the Lake Chad Basin.
