Northern Nigerian Students Partner with PRNigeria Centre on Campus-Based Campaigns

The National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) has announced a strategic partnership with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, to support its campus-based campaigns aimed at tackling key social issues and promoting youth development.

During a courtesy visit to the PRNigeria Centre in Abuja, NANNS President, Abdulrahman Ibrahim, outlined the association’s ongoing efforts across campuses in Northern Nigeria and beyond. These include initiatives on entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, combating violence and sexual harassment, preventing drug abuse, addressing cultism and cybercrime, and advocating against the unjust treatment of students.

He noted that the association’s decision to partner with the PRNigeria Centre stems from its desire to amplify the impact and visibility of these campaigns through credible media engagement and mentorship.

“We find it necessary to collaborate with IMPR and the PRNigeria Centre to take our campaigns to the next level,” Ibrahim stated.

As part of the visit, the NANNS leadership presented the Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Distinguished Merit Award to the founder of IMPR, Mallam Yushau A. Shuaib, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to youth empowerment and national development.

Describing Shuaib as an “epitome of hope,” Ibrahim praised his inclusive leadership and commitment to mentoring young Nigerians, regardless of their tribe, religion, or background. He specifically lauded initiatives such as the PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship, which offers intensive training and mentorship for aspiring journalists and communicators.

“Malam Shuaib’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of young Nigerians is admirable. Through his work and platforms, he has empowered many of our peers with skills, confidence, and opportunities to succeed,” he said.

The association also commended his broader contributions to educational advancement, national development, youth engagement, and humanitarian service.

In his response, Mallam Yushau Shuaib expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and pledged continued support for NANNS. He offered to provide media coverage for the association’s initiatives and mentorship opportunities to help members pursue careers in communication, journalism, and strategic advocacy.

“I am truly honoured by this award and inspired by NANNS’ dedication to championing the causes of young people across the region,” Shuaib said. “Your efforts align with our mission at PRNigeria to amplify the voices of the youth and support credible narratives that can shape the future of this country.”

The NANNS delegation included key executive members, Sekyen Twakden and Hassana Usman, who also expressed optimism about the impact of the partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to building a safer, more informed, and empowered student community across Northern Nigeria.
