NSCDC Boss Condemns Benue Killings, Vows Justice
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has condemned the recent massacre of unarmed civilians in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. He described the attack as barbaric and unjustifiable, calling for a decisive and strategic response to end the killings.
Dr. Audi made the remarks during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the affected area alongside other top security chiefs. While commiserating with the families of victims and the Benue State Government, he assured that the Corps was intensifying efforts in collaboration with sister agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“These killings must stop, and we must be very strategic, decisive, and resilient in our approach to restoring peace and order in the state,” he said. “Just as Mr. President has directed, the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to book, and we need to be on top of our game to make this happen.”

The NSCDC Commandant General directed the Zonal Commander and Benue State Commandant to deploy covert operatives, special forces, and all tactical units to vulnerable areas of the state. He emphasized the need for enhanced intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration in tackling the recurring violence.
He expressed deep concern over the killing of defenceless women and children, describing it as a mindless and senseless act of violence against innocent citizens. “There is no justification whatsoever for such brutality,” Dr. Audi stated.
To strengthen security operations in the state, Dr. Audi disclosed that the NSCDC High Command would be deploying additional tactical operatives and logistics support to the Benue State Command. He also pledged stronger synergy with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups, and other stakeholders to ensure actionable intelligence is gathered and the culprits arrested.
The NSCDC boss extended his appreciation to the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Lornem Alia, for the continuous support provided to the Corps, and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of citizens and protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.
