Katsina Police Foil Bandit Attack, Rescue Six Abducted Farmers

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully repelled a bandit attack and rescued six farmers who were kidnapped during the incident at Kwari Manaja Forest in Sabuwa Local Government Area.

According to police sources, the attack occurred on June 21 at approximately 5:41 p.m. when armed men, suspected to be bandits, stormed farmlands and abducted several farmers working in the area.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly mobilized police tactical teams and led a swift response convoy, including Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol vehicles, to confront the attackers.

The police operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives.

Six kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed during the operation. They were identified as Ayuba (51), Mubarak (23), Garba (25), Ibrahim (21), Bala (28), and Nura (25) — all residents of Tashar Nadaya Village.

No casualties were recorded among the victims, and police authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
