10 Die as Rival Bandit Groups Clash in Zamfara
A violent clash between rival armed bandit factions has triggered a deadly reprisal attack that claimed the lives of at least ten residents in Tofa village, Magami District of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State, PRNigeria reports.
Sources confirmed that the conflict began on June 22 when a notorious bandit, identified as Uban Gora from the western flank of Tofa, intercepted and robbed a Golf vehicle traveling from Dansadau.

The act provoked a retaliatory response from another bandit based in the eastern part of the village, who reportedly confronted and fatally shot Uban Gora over the unauthorized robbery.
According to Zagazola Makama, the killing sparked immediate outrage within Uban Gora’s camp. In retaliation, his gang leader mobilized a group of armed men who stormed Tofa village the following day, June 23, indiscriminately opening fire on residents. The attack resulted in the deaths of ten villagers, while several others sustained injuries.
The victims were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic burial rites, as fear and tension continue to grip the affected community.
The incident underscores the growing threat posed by internal rivalries among bandit groups in Zamfara, where civilians increasingly bear the brunt of such violent power struggles.
