Army Pays Tribute to 17 Slain Soldiers With National Mourning
The Nigerian Army has declared a three-day period of mourning in honour of 17 gallant soldiers who were killed in the line of duty at Kwana Dutse in Niger State.
The mourning period runs from Wednesday, June 25 to Friday, June 27, 2025.
In a solemn statement, the Army described the fallen troops as courageous patriots who paid the ultimate price while defending the nation’s territorial integrity.
To honour their memory, all Nigerian Army formations and units across the country have been directed to fly the Nigerian Army flag at half-mast throughout the period.

“This moment of national grief reminds us of the enormous sacrifices made daily by the men and women of the Armed Forces to protect our sovereignty and ensure our safety,” the statement noted.
The Nigerian Army also extended its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen heroes.
It assured them that their loved ones would be remembered for their bravery, dedication, and selfless service.
“These fallen heroes will forever remain in our hearts. Their devotion to duty and unmatched courage in the face of danger stand as a shining example of patriotism,” the Army said.
Military authorities further reaffirmed their commitment to tracking down and bringing to justice the criminal elements responsible for the attack.
As the nation mourns, the Army called on Nigerians to stand united in solidarity with the Armed Forces and the grieving families, while reaffirming its resolve to continue the fight against all threats to peace and stability across the country.
