According to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary findings revealed that Victor lured his friend under the pretense of meeting another acquaintance, only for the victim to be abducted by Victor and his criminal gang.
In a surprising twist, the suspect pretended to be a fellow victim to deflect suspicion while his gang demanded and collected the ransom in foreign currency before releasing the abducted victim.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and is currently cooperating with investigators to apprehend other members of the gang,” SP Ikenga said in a statement on Saturday.
The police assured that Victor will be prosecuted once the investigation is concluded, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to enhancing public safety and tackling criminal activities in the state.
