FG Officials Arrives S’Arabia for Business Mogul Aminu Dantata’s Burial in Madinah

A high-powered delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in the holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the funeral of the late business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

The revered philanthropist and patriarch of the Dantata family passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.

The delegation, which departed Nigeria late Sunday, touched down in Madinah in the early hours of Monday to receive the remains of the late industrialist and participate in funeral rites scheduled to take place later in the day.

Leading the delegation is the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. Other members include the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Prominent Islamic clerics accompanying the delegation are Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

The delegation has been received and joined by officials of the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who had been coordinating funeral arrangements in Madinah.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata was widely respected for his role in Nigeria’s business and philanthropic sectors and was one of the last surviving members of the country’s founding industrialist class.

His funeral in Madinah, a city of profound religious significance in Islam, is expected to draw tributes and prayers from across the Muslim world and Nigeria’s political and religious circles.
