FCT Police Urges Influencers to Spotlight Heroism, Not Just Negativity on Security
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command is calling on citizens, bloggers, and influencers to shift the narrative surrounding Nigeria’s security agencies.
In a powerful statement issued today, SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, urged a collective effort to highlight the “countless acts of bravery, sacrifice, and gallantry” displayed by officers daily, rather than focusing solely on negative incidents.
“Can we begin to shift the narrative?” SP Adeh’s statement began, emphasizing a desire to move away from the constant excavation of negative videos about security forces.

She advocated for a flood of stories showcasing “courage, resilience, and progress,” asserting that such a shift would send a clear message to criminals that “the security forces are closing in, and that crime has consequences.”
SP Adeh stressed that the fight against crime is not solely the responsibility of security agencies. “It’s a collective responsibility,” she stated, highlighting how every shared video depicting a successful rescue, a foiled attack, or a community saved contributes to building public confidence and diminishing criminal morale.
The statement concluded with a passionate plea: “So, I urge everyone, citizens, bloggers, influencers, let’s start amplifying the efforts, sacrifices, and silent victories of those who risk everything to protect us. Your voice matters. Use it to inspire hope, not fear.”
The FCT Police Command’s appeal comes as public perception of security agencies remains a significant topic of discussion. This initiative seeks to foster a more balanced and encouraging portrayal of the dedication and sacrifices made by officers in their commitment to national security.
