No fewer than 210 Boko Haram terrorists, including conscripted fighters and their family members, have surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) operating under Sector 2 in Bol, near Baga Sola in the Lake Chad region.
This significant development was disclosed in a statement by the Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, who said the mass surrender is a direct outcome of intensified kinetic and non-kinetic operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks in the region.
According to Lt.-Col. Osoba, the repentant insurgents confessed to participating in a series of violent terrorist operations across Bakatolerom, Barkalam, Litri, and Kaiga Ngbouboun axes of Lake Chad. Troops also recovered 10 assorted weapons of different calibres during the surrender.
