Police Foil Bandit Attacks in Katsina, Rescue Victims as Traditional Leader Abducted

The Katsina State Police Command on Friday thwarted a banditry attack in Dutsinma Local Government Area and rescued two kidnapped victims, even as a separate late-night assault in Matazu Local Government Area led to the abduction of a traditional titleholder, PRNigeria learnt.

The first incident happened around 9:45 p.m. on Friday when gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Bayan Masallachi Quarters near Sabon Garin Safana in Dutsinma LGA, abducting several residents.

Acting on a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Dutsinma swiftly mobilized an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to the scene. The team intercepted the bandits at the outskirts of Gidan Maifanfo Village, where a gun duel ensued.

Zagazola Makama reported that during the operation, two victims — Aminu Sani and Zainab Sani — were successfully rescued, while another victim, Musa Sani, sustained a gunshot wound to the waist. He was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Dutsinma, for medical attention.

In a separate attack just hours earlier, around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, bandits riding motorcycles stormed Karaduwa Village in Matazu LGA and abducted Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammadu Bello, the Wakilin Hakimin Matazu, from his residence.

Responding to the incident, the Divisional Police Officer in Matazu deployed APC patrol teams in pursuit of the assailants. However, the perpetrators had fled the area before security operatives arrived.

Security authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to track and apprehend the culprits, with surveillance and monitoring operations intensified across vulnerable communities.

Residents in Karaduwa and surrounding areas have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
