Customs Debunks Fake CBT Recruitment Shortlist Circulating Online
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has debunked a fake press release currently circulating on social media and messaging platforms, which falsely claims that a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for NCS recruitment has been scheduled for July 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Service’s National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS described the information as fraudulent and misleading, warning the public to disregard it in its entirety.
“The said press release did not emanate from the Nigeria Customs Service and is filled with misleading claims. At no point did the Service announce any CBT scheduled for July 2025,” the statement read.
Maiwada explained that the fake document contains several irregularities, including a forged electronic signature and a recruitment timeline inconsistent with the Service’s official processes.

He noted that the NCS remains aware of the significant public interest in its recruitment activities, and assured that verified information will always be disseminated through the Service’s official website, verified social media accounts, and reputable national newspapers.
“The Nigeria Customs Service urges members of the public not to engage with, share, or act upon such unverified content,” Maiwada stated, adding that investigations are already underway to trace the source of the false publication, with a view to bringing those responsible to justice.
He further appreciated the vigilance of concerned Nigerians who brought the matter to the attention of the Service, reaffirming NCS’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and public trust in all its operations.
“When the Service is ready to proceed with the next stage of its recruitment process, the public will be duly and officially informed,” he assured.
