Scores of Terrorists Eliminated as NAF Bombs Boko Haram Camps in Mandara Mountains
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on Saturday, July 6, 2025, launched coordinated precision airstrikes on major Boko Haram hideouts in the Mandara Mountains, Borno State, delivering a significant blow to insurgent operations in the region.
The strikes, executed under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), specifically targeted Wa Jahode and Loghpere, both of which have served as long-standing strongholds for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
Located along the Nigeria–Cameroon border, the Mandara Mountains are known for their treacherous terrain, which has provided cover for insurgents over the years. Intelligence reports had recently flagged an upsurge in terrorist activities in the area, including a buildup of logistics and the presence of high-ranking JAS commanders.

In a statement released on Monday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed that the strikes were launched following detailed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified critical terrorist infrastructure.
“In a major blow to insurgent networks in Nigeria’s North-East, the Nigerian Air Force under OPHK conducted precision air strikes on July 6, 2025, targeting fortified terrorist enclaves within the Mandara Mountains,” the statement read.
“These locations, particularly Wa Jahode and Loghpere, had long served as command and logistics hubs for the Boko Haram faction. ISR missions revealed clusters of fortified structures fitted with solar panels and black flags, clearly indicating renewed insurgent activity and preparations for coordinated attacks.”
Gabkwet further disclosed that NAF fighter jets carried out a series of well-coordinated interdictions, successfully destroying high-value terrorist assets, including logistics depots, command centres, and fortified shelters.
“Several terrorists were neutralised in the operation,” he said. “The strikes effectively disrupted their supply chain and crippled their ability to mount future offensives.”
He reiterated NAF’s commitment to continuing its operations until lasting peace is restored across all affected regions.
