Police Nab Dreaded Cult Leader Linked to Murders, Abductions in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a notorious cult leader linked to a recent spate of murders, abductions, and robberies in the Oko area of Orumba North Local Government Area.
Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye, 25, popularly known as “Bus-Stop,” was apprehended on July 7, 2025, by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu.
His arrest is a direct follow-up to a series of disturbing incidents that occurred early last month in Oko, which saw two individuals injured, two brutally murdered, and two others abducted and later released after a ransom was paid. These attacks took place at the Total Junction and Tipper Junction, both key locations within Oko.

Police recovered one automatic pump-action gun and two mobile handsets during the arrest of “Bus-Stop,” who has confessed to being an active and high-ranking member (“Lord”) of the Aye Confraternity Cult group.
According to a press statement released today by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect also admitted to robbing a victim of his handset and other valuables at gunpoint in Oko on May 22, 2025.
Perhaps most critically, Okoye provided chilling details of a planned initiation ceremony and a rival cult attack slated for yesterday, July 7, 2025. He further implicated himself and six other gang members in the violent attacks that rocked Oko on June 19, 2025.
Armed with this crucial intelligence, police operatives have swiftly moved to activate plans for the apprehension of the remaining gang members, signaling a concerted effort to dismantle the criminal network operating within Anambra State.
“Further developments would be communicated,” SP Ikenga assured the public, indicating that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
