Gov. Mutfwang Hails NSCDC Boss Audi as 150 Agro-Rangers Graduate in Plateau
Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has commended the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his unwavering commitment to tackling insecurity in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The governor made the commendation during the Passing Out Parade of 150 newly trained Agro-Rangers at the NSCDC Command and Staff College in Jos, Plateau State.
According to Governor Mutfwang, the NSCDC has emerged as a critical pillar in Nigeria’s security architecture, particularly through its Agro-Rangers unit, which protects farms and agricultural assets nationwide.
“One of the most reliable organisations tackling insecurity in the nation is Civil Defence,” Mutfwang stated. “Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment have been outstanding. That’s why we have been vocal about increasing the number of trained Agro-Rangers. They are doing a fantastic job in safeguarding the nation’s agricultural assets.”
The governor praised Prof. Audi for transforming the Corps through visionary leadership and hands-on engagement, saying: “Your wealth of experience has cascaded to the Corps. NSCDC is no longer an institution that operates in isolation. Under your leadership, it has become a critical component of the national security ecosystem.”

Highlighting the importance of agriculture to national development, Governor Mutfwang said farms are vital national assets that must be protected to achieve food security. He noted that conflicts between farmers and herders, which have previously threatened food production, are now significantly reduced due to the interventions of the Agro-Rangers.
As a show of support, the governor announced the official donation of a permanent site for the NSCDC Command and Staff College in Plateau State and pledged continued collaboration with the Corps to enhance security and community development.
Speaking at the event, Commandant General Audi emphasized the strategic role of the Agro-Rangers unit, describing it as a specialized arm tasked with protecting farmlands, crops, herds, and the safety of both farmers and herders.
“I urge you to remain professional and dedicated in carrying out your duties,” Audi charged the graduating officers. “Our collective efforts and synergy among security agencies remain the key to addressing the multifaceted security threats facing our nation.”
In goodwill messages, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General E.F. Ayinlola, and the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel, congratulated the NSCDC on the successful training. They pledged continued collaboration to support the Corps in fulfilling its mandate.
The six-week training for the 150 officers included weapon handling, intelligence gathering, combat craft, and an executive course at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Mountain School, Shere Hills. The event featured military parades, firearms assembly demonstrations, simulation exercises, and presentation of awards.
The graduation marks a significant boost to the NSCDC’s efforts to secure Nigeria’s agricultural zones and enhance food security across the country.
