Troops Eliminate 24 Boko Haram Insurgents, Recover Weapons in Coordinated Operations

In a series of intensified offensive operations across Nigeria’s North East region, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized at least 24 Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents and recovered a cache of weapons and logistics equipment between July 4 and 9, 2025.

The operations, conducted with support from the Air Component of OPHK, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, targeted insurgents’ strongholds in Borno and Adamawa States. Multiple ambushes and clearance missions were launched to disrupt terrorist movements, supply routes, and logistics channels.

According to a statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations at Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, the offensive began on July 4 at Platari, where troops ambushed insurgents travelling on bicycles from the Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle. Three terrorists were killed in the encounter.

In Komala area, another ambush led to the elimination of one insurgent and the recovery of motorcycles, spare parts, pesticides, and food supplies. That same day, troops engaged insurgents at a hideout in Kawuri, Konduga Local Government Area, killing two logistics couriers and recovering food seasoning, salt, and detergents.

On July 5, troops foiled an attempt by insurgents to infiltrate the Madarari Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Konduga. One terrorist was killed and several rounds of ammunition were recovered during the follow-up sweep.

Further operations on July 6 at known crossing points near Ngoshe and Gava led to the neutralization of another insurgent. On July 7, based on intelligence reports near Sabsawa village, troops ambushed and killed two logistics suppliers, recovering bicycles, footwear, torchlights, and other materials.

A major clearance operation occurred on July 8 at Bula Marwa, a notorious ISWAP/JAS enclave. Supported by airstrikes, troops destroyed the terrorists’ life-support structures, killed an insurgent, and recovered weapons and uniforms.

That same day, in Pambula village of Madagali LGA, Adamawa State, a joint fighting patrol with hunters and CJTF engaged terrorists in a firefight, killing one insurgent and seizing four motorcycles and a weapon.

On July 9, joint clearance operations in Tangalanga and Bula Marwa saw the elimination of three terrorists. Troops destroyed enemy camps and recovered six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Further ambushes at Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages resulted in six more insurgents killed and the recovery of motorcycles and bicycles.

“These operations underscore the unwavering commitment and collaboration of OPHK troops and partners to put insurgents on the back foot,” said Captain Kovangiya. “Our aim is to create a secure and peaceful environment that will enable socio-economic activities to flourish in the North East.”

The Nigerian military continues to maintain pressure on terrorist elements in the region as part of broader efforts to restore lasting peace and stability.
