NELFUND Resumes Monthly Upkeep Payments, Credits Over 3,600 Students

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially resumed the disbursement of monthly upkeep allowances to eligible student beneficiaries.

In a statement released on Friday, the agency confirmed that the payments are specifically for students who have successfully updated their bank details from digital wallet platforms to traditional commercial bank accounts.

Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, who signed the statement, revealed that over 3,600 students—initially registered with digital-only banks—have now received their backlog of monthly stipends after updating their banking information via the NELFUND portal.

She urged students who are still yet to receive their upkeep payments and continue to use digital wallet accounts to promptly raise a support ticket through the official NELFUND portal to request access for updating their account details.

“Alternatively,” she added, “students can report through the IT department of their respective institutions, which will compile and forward all unresolved cases to NELFUND for necessary action.”

The Fund reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no qualified student is left behind, stating that the resolution of pending payment issues forms part of a broader initiative to enhance transparency, efficiency, and a student-focused approach to service delivery.

“We encourage all students to interact solely through our official communication channels and to support their peers who may face challenges during the update process,” Mrs. Oluwatuyi said.

She also appreciated the patience and cooperation of affected students, noting that their resilience has played a significant role in facilitating the progress achieved so far.
