Troops Bust IPOB/ESN Logistics Network, Arrest Informants in Southeast — DHQ

In a sustained push to dismantle separatist terror networks in the Southeast, troops of Operation UDO KA have arrested multiple members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), including logistics operatives and informants.

According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, the arrests followed ongoing intelligence-led operations across Anambra and Imo states between 26 June and 10 July 2025.

A major breakthrough was achieved on 2 July 2025, when troops tracked and arrested a suspected sponsor and logistic supplier to the notorious Mother Valley IPOB/ESN camp in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. Items recovered from the suspect included four Point of Sale (POS) machines, two mobile phones, and N250,600.00 in cash, believed to be part of funds used to finance separatist operations.

Further operations led to the arrest of four additional suspected IPOB/ESN members and informants across Ihiala LGA in Anambra and Ehime Mbano LGA in Imo State. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to expose the wider network of collaborators and financiers behind violent agitations in the region.

The Defence Headquarters said the success of the operations reflects the Nigerian military’s resolve to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace in the Southeast. Major General Kangye reaffirmed that Operation UDO KA remains focused on neutralising hostile elements exploiting secessionist propaganda to destabilize communities.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in restoring peace, dismantling criminal syndicates, and protecting citizens across the country,” he stated. “We call on the public to continue supporting security forces with credible information to enable swift action against those threatening national unity.”

The military also expressed gratitude to citizens and security stakeholders for their cooperation, noting that the ongoing operations have yielded tangible results in curbing separatist violence in the region.
