APRA Secretary General Omoniyi Ibietan Named ‘PR Change Maker,’
Dr. Omoniyi P. Ibietan, Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), has been recognized as a “Change Maker” in the communications industry.
The list, compiled by communications firm GLG in partnership with The Guardian newspapers, celebrates individuals who are actively innovating and disrupting the industry.
According to the organizers, the CHANGEMAKERS list highlights strategic thinkers and brand builders who are shaping the future of public relations and communication through their impactful work and bold initiatives.
The Spokespersons Digest reports that for over 25 years, Dr. Ibietan has been a driving force in the field, quietly shaping narratives and mentoring a new generation of communicators across the continent.
His career journey has taken him from journalism lecture halls to the highest corridors of public policy.
Before his rise to continental leadership at APRA, Ibietan made a significant impact at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
There, he led key departments like Media Relations and Online Media, where he was one of the architects of strategic reforms that sharpened the commission’s public engagement and unified its brand voice.
