Notorious Bandit Kingpin, Abubakar Magaji Arrested in Sokoto, Gun, Ammunition Recovered
Security operatives have apprehended a notorious bandit leader, Abubakar Magaji, and recovered an AK-47 rifle along with 22 rounds of live ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Magaji, a native of Julirko Village, was arrested on July 13 by a special anti-kidnapping unit under Zone 10 Command, Sokoto.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions and violent attacks in and around the Silame forest.
Following his confession, security operatives launched a follow-up operation on July 16 into the Silame forest, where they successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle with breech number S-70170 and 22 rounds of live ammunition.
Magaji also revealed the identities of four other gang members—each reportedly armed with an AK-47—who are currently on the run.
Security sources confirmed that a manhunt is underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover more weapons.
