BLOODY OPERATION: Troops Crush Terror Gangs, Block N291m Oil Theft
The Armed Forces of Nigeria says its troops have killed several terrorists, arrested dozens of criminals, and foiled oil theft operations valued at over N291 million, in a series of coordinated military operations conducted across the country between July 10 and 17, 2025.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, made this known during a weekly press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
He said the military recorded “significant operational gains” across all theatres, particularly in the fight against terrorism, banditry, oil theft, and violent crimes.
According to Kangye, troops in the Operation Delta Safe theatre recovered 201,345 litres of stolen crude oil, 29,730 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 1,759 litres of kerosene, with a combined estimated value of N291,326,400.00.

The troops also dismantled 19 illegal refining sites, and recovered dozens of weapons, 13 vehicles, and arrested 42 oil thieves in Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa States.
In the North-East, troops under Operation Hadin Kai conducted joint air and ground operations in Borno and Yobe States, killing scores of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. Over 16 family members of terrorists, including women and children, also surrendered, while terror logistics suppliers were arrested in Biu and Damaturu.
Meanwhile, troops in the North-West, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, apprehended multiple terror suspects, rescued kidnapped victims, and neutralized key extremists during operations in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Niger States.
The Defence Headquarters reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
“We are guided by a clear mandate to defeat all threats, protect Nigerians, and promote national unity. The military remains resolute in this mission,” Kangye said.
