COAS Oluyede Tasks Depot NA Osogbo on Effective Training

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has urged officers and instructors at Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, to embrace passion and professionalism in training recruits, saying the quality of soldiers produced reflects directly on the Army’s image and national security.

General Oluyede gave the charge on Monday during his maiden operational visit to the Depot, where he inspected ongoing training activities and assessed the state of facilities at the institution.

While addressing personnel, the Army Chief stressed that effective training remains a cornerstone of his leadership vision to enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational capabilities.

He encouraged instructors to rededicate themselves to building capacity and instilling discipline in the next generation of soldiers.

“The kind of Army we build depends largely on the foundation we lay here,” Oluyede said. “I expect you to train with the highest level of commitment, bearing in mind that you are shaping the future of the Nigerian Army.”

The COAS also toured various training sections and infrastructure within the Depot, evaluating their readiness and identifying areas for improvement to boost overall performance.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, the visit was described as a reaffirmation of the Army Chief’s focus on strengthening basic military training as a critical part of his transformation agenda.

Depot NA Osogbo serves as the primary training ground for fresh recruits into the Nigerian Army.
