PSC Promotes 12 CPs to AIG, Elevates Other Senior Police Officers

PSC Promotes 12 CPs to AIG, Elevates Other Senior Police Officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG), along with the elevation of 226 other senior police officers.

This was announced in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC.

According to Ani, the promotions include 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) elevated to CPs, 27 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) promoted to DCPs, and 145 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) elevated to the rank of ACP.

He noted that one ACP, who was absent during the promotion exercise, was not elevated.

In addition, the Commission promoted 29 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to CSPs and 38 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to SPs. Ani explained that these promoted officers included both General Duty personnel and specialists such as those in Airwing, medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, physiotherapists, nurses, priests, and aircraft engineers.

The 12 CPs promoted to AIGs are: Johnson Adenola, Ako Gabriel, Ahmadu Abdullahi, Emmanuel Aina, Omolara Oloruntola, Hassan Yababet, Bretet Simon, Enyinnaya Adiogu, Aminu Raji, Mohammed Usman, Festus Oko, and Ronke Okunade.

Similarly, the 16 DCPs promoted to CPs include: Uduak Ita, Sheikh Danko, Charles Dike, Nnana Ama, Gabriel Eliagwu, Abiola Olutunde, Yakubu Dankaro, Michael Falade, Aina Adesola, Umar Chuso, Emefile Osifo, Innocent Anagbado, Musa Sani, Victor Erivwode, Omoikhudu Philip and Sylvester Edogbanya.

Ani said the successful officers participated in examinations and interviews conducted by the Commission as part of the promotion process.

The promotion exercise was coordinated by Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, Chairman of the Commission’s Standing Committee on Police Matters, who presented the report to the Commission in plenary for approval.
