Police Warn Against False Security Alerts in Anambra, Vow Legal Action
The Anambra State Police Command has warned against the deliberate spread of false or exaggerated security information, particularly on social media platforms, cautioning that those behind such acts will be investigated and prosecuted.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command expressed concern over the increasing trend of individuals and groups sharing misleading security-related content with the intent to cause public panic and discredit security agencies operating in the state.

“These acts are not only malicious but also undermine ongoing security operations and erode public confidence in law enforcement efforts,” the statement read.
As part of ongoing security assessments, the Command announced it will no longer tolerate misinformation and has resolved to expose the identities of those responsible.
It further emphasized that offenders will face prosecution in line with the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and other applicable laws.
The Police urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified security reports and to use official channels to report suspicious activity.
While reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order, the Command assured residents of Anambra State that it remains dedicated to professionalism and transparency in policing.
