Kaduna NIPR Urges Students to Embrace Evolving PR Landscape

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kaduna State Chapter, has called on students to actively engage with the evolving landscape of public relations professionalism.

The call was made during a Student Outreach Engagement held at Kaduna Polytechnic on World Public Relations Day 2025, where senior students from the Departments of Journalism & Media Studies and Media & Strategic Communication gathered to gain insights into the dynamic field.
Malam Haroun Malami, Chairman of the NIPR Kaduna State Chapter, whose remarks were delivered by the Chapter’s Vice Chairman, Mohammed Abdullahi, emphasized the increasing demand for excellence, innovation, and inclusion within the PR industry. This aligns with the global theme for the year: “Building Bridges and Navigating Polarization.”
“The new realities of public relations demand greater inclusion and a commitment to sustainable best practices,” Malami stated. “We cannot meet these demands without giving our young successors a seat at the table. That is why you must take up your spaces and pursue professionalism and excellence with unrelenting passion. You are the future of this profession.”

The event drew over 300 students and featured impactful presentations from a delegation of the Chapter’s thought leaders. Among them were Ahmed Balarabe Sa’id, former Chapter Secretary, and Mrs. Mercy Ogbu, CEO of Red Coffee Communications, who offered practical insights into career opportunities and emerging pathways within the PR sector. Other members of the NIPR Kaduna delegation also shared personal experiences and words of encouragement, guiding students in their professional journeys.

Earlier in the day, the NIPR delegation, which included former Chapter Chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Iya El-Nafaty, paid a condolence visit to Dr. Bashir Hadi Ashara, Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, over the recent passing of former HOD, Mr. Samson Fagbemi.
Expressing gratitude for the visit, Dr. Ashara commended the Chapter’s student engagement initiative and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Institute, particularly in the lead-up to the NIPR Kaduna Chapter’s hosting of the 2026 Nigerian Public Relations Week.
