Tinubu, NUJ, Police, and Military Mourn the Death of Gusau Emir

The Nigerian nation is in mourning following the passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Sarkin Katsinan and Emir of Gusau, who died on Friday morning in Abuja at the age of 71. Tributes have poured in from across the country, with President Bola Tinubu, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Army, as well as the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, expressing profound sorrow and extending condolences.

President Tinubu Describes Emir’s Death as “Collective Loss”

President Bola Tinubu led the tributes, expressing deep grief over the monarch’s demise. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dr. Bello’s death as a “collective loss beyond his immediate domain,” highlighting his lifelong service. The President emphasized that the late emir would be remembered for his “sense of duty, commitment to his people and exemplary leadership.” He extended his commiseration to the government and people of Zamfara State and the family of the late monarch, praying for Allah’s mercy on the soul of the departed.

NUJ Hails Emir’s Wisdom and Contributions

The Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also expressed its heartfelt condolences, describing the late Emir as a leader of “exceptional wisdom, humility, and foresight.” In a statement jointly signed by Chairman Ibrahim Musa Maizare and Secretary Ibrahim Ahmad Gada, the NUJ acknowledged Dr. Bello’s “remarkable contributions to the peace, unity, and development of Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole,” assuring that his legacy would be remembered for generations. The union affirmed its solidarity with the Zamfara State Government, the Gusau Emirate, and the people, praying for divine fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Police and Army Commanders Mourn “Symbol of Peace”

The Zamfara State Police Command and the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army both issued separate press releases mourning the revered monarch. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, psc+, on behalf of the command, extended heartfelt condolences, recognizing His Royal Highness as a “symbol of peace, wisdom, and unity.” He noted that the Emir’s leadership brought significant progress and harmony to the Emirate and the state.

Similarly, Brigadier General TM Opurum, Commander of the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, conveyed his condolences, echoing the sentiment that the Emir was an “epitome of wisdom, and lover of unity.” Both security outfits emphasized that his demise is a great loss to the entire nation and prayed for Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give solace to his family and the state.

Medical Laboratory Scientists Express Condolences

The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, HSMB Chapter, Gusau, Zamfara State, also joined in mourning the passing of the Emir. In a statement signed by Scientist Hussaini Jibrilla, Publicity Secretary, for Chairman Aminu Shehu Kaura, the association extended its deepest condolences to the Zamfara State government, the royal family, the people of Zamfara State, and the entire Nigerian nation. They prayed for eternal rest for the departed monarch and for his legacy to continue to inspire and guide.

The late Dr. Ibrahim Bello, Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, will undoubtedly be remembered for his dedication to his people and his significant contributions to peace and development in Zamfara State and beyond. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
