Presided over by Chairman Fellow Stanley Ogadigo, the event featured a compelling keynote address on “Crisis Communication in Security-Sensitive Environments” by Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, a retired Commissioner of Police and five-time Force Public Relations Officer. His presentation, rooted in decades of field experience, was met with strong applause and prompted a lively discussion among attendees.

Adding to the professional development theme, Prof. Oke Ikechukwu, mni, provided an update on the PR & Leadership Club Curriculum Development Committee. This initiative aims to institutionalize values-based PR education in secondary schools across the FCT.

The meeting also saw the recognition of several key figures and initiatives. Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd.), a renowned Defence Spokesman, praised Dr. Ojukwu’s insights and encouraged practitioners to continue bridging the gap between national security and public information.

A significant highlight was the special recognition of Lieutenant Colonel Onyinyechi Appolonia Anele, the newly appointed Acting Director of Public Relations of the Nigerian Army. As a member of the NIPR FCT Chapter, her historic appointment as the first woman to hold the position was celebrated as a testament to the chapter’s support for gender inclusion.

Additionally, the chapter commended Dr. Olushola Odumosu, Commandant of the NSCDC FCT Command, for training 250 officers in sign language. This initiative, launched on World Public Relations Day 2025, was lauded as a progressive model for promoting inclusivity in service delivery within the security sector.

In a moving act of solidarity, the chapter honored the family of the late member Mr. Zadok with a financial donation from Chairman Ogadigo and other members. Academic excellence was also celebrated, with a prize award presented to Abu Francis Helen Ebo, the best graduating student from Government Science Secondary School, Maitama, and a member of the first PR & Leadership Club in the FCT.

The meeting concluded with a festive celebration for birthday celebrants, highlighting the chapter’s strong sense of camaraderie.
