IGP Commissions Over 300 Housing Units, New Police Facilities in Kano

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commissioned newly constructed police barracks and accommodation facilities at Bompai and Zaria Road in Kano State, marking another major milestone in efforts to enhance the welfare of police officers and boost operational capacity.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the project forms part of the IGP’s strategic drive to improve the living conditions of personnel and raise morale within the Nigeria Police Force.

The facilities include more than 300 modern residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, a transport workshop, Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) shops, worship centres, paved internal roads, and other support infrastructure — all built to meet contemporary standards and in line with the Force’s vision of a professional, motivated, and mission-ready police service.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, attended by officers, stakeholders, and guests, Egbetokun described the development as “not merely the unveiling of infrastructure, but the reaffirmation of a philosophy that places human dignity at the centre of national security.”

“No officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night,” the IGP declared, stressing that his administration’s deliberate focus is on aligning welfare with performance and treating infrastructure as a catalyst for professional excellence.

He credited the timely delivery and high quality of the project to the active collaboration of private sector partners and stakeholders who embraced the Force’s vision. The police chief also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Nigeria Police, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has facilitated meaningful reform and tangible progress in policing nationwide.

Egbetokun assured that similar welfare and infrastructure projects are underway in other states as part of a comprehensive blueprint for police transformation.

The Nigeria Police Force, he said, remains committed to prioritizing personnel welfare and institutional renewal, recognizing that a well-motivated workforce is key to sustainable public safety and national development.
