Shortly after the ambush, at about 7:30 p.m., suspected terrorists launched a retaliatory assault on Dar El-Jamal resettled village, firing sporadically in an attempt to instill panic and inflict casualties.
However, a combined response team comprising Nigerian Army troops, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local Hunter Group operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene. Their coordinated defense forced the attackers to retreat in disarray, effectively repelling the assault with no reported civilian casualties.
The successful operation and subsequent defense highlight the growing synergy among security forces and community-based security groups in combating terrorism in Nigeria’s northeast.
Military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining aggressive operations until all remnants of terrorist elements are decisively dealt with.
