Air Chief: Security Is Key to Nigeria’s Development
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reiterated that sustainable national development is impossible without a secure environment, stressing the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
Abubakar made the remarks during an operational assessment visit to Kebbi State, according to a statement on Sunday by NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
“Our commitment is clear: we will locate and root out all criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of law-abiding citizens. Nigeria must be secure for development to thrive. Protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains a non-negotiable priority for the Nigerian Air Force,” Abubakar said.

He noted that Kebbi’s location — sharing borders with the Republics of Benin and Niger — and its vast rural terrain demand heightened security vigilance. To this end, he said, the Air Force would intensify intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations across the state, adding: “What affects Kebbi affects the entire North-West, and by extension, the peace and stability of our nation.”
In his response, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Mohammed Idris, commended the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies for their dedication to protecting residents despite the complex security challenges in the North-West. He credited their vigilance and sacrifices for the relative peace enjoyed in the state and pledged his administration’s continued support for all security agencies operating in Kebbi.
