Anambra Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Stolen Car Linked to Separatist Group
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of armed robbery and membership in a separatist group, recovering a stolen vehicle in the process.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect, identified as Charles Chinonso, was apprehended in the early hours of 10 August 2025 during a coordinated intelligence-led operation at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

Ikenga explained that the operation was carried out by officers attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, following a complaint by a victim whose car was snatched at the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
“Acting on credible technological intelligence, Police operatives traced the vehicle to its location and effected the arrest of the suspect,” Ikenga stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured that the Anambra Command will work closely with the Imo State Police Command, under whose jurisdiction the robbery occurred, to ensure the suspect and the recovered vehicle are processed according to extant legal procedures.
The statement also reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led policing and cross-state collaboration to tackle criminal activities.
