Tinubu Reappoints Sadiq Yelwa as N-HYPPADEC Boss
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa’s appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) for a second and final four-year term.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, said the reappointment is in line with the provisions of Section 93 of the Electricity Act, 2023.
President Tinubu tasked Yelwa with consolidating on the gains achieved by the Commission during his first term while introducing greater innovation and commitment to fulfilling its mandate.
N-HYPPADEC is charged with improving the living standards of communities in Nigeria’s hydroelectric power producing areas, addressing environmental challenges, and promoting sustainable development in affected regions.
Yelwa, who began his first term in 2021, is expected to serve his second tenure until 2029.
