Lagos Police Nab Notorious ‘One-Chance’ Kingpin, 2 Others
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a notorious ‘one chance’ kingpin and two members of his gang during a routine patrol along Agege Motor Road, Ikeja.
The suspects, identified as 53-year-old Bode Oludayisin, 22-year-old Michael Sowunmi, and 20-year-old David Olawaye, were intercepted inside an unregistered commercial minibus following a distress call from a victim who was being robbed. Police sources confirmed that Oludayisin, one of the suspects, has long been on the wanted list for his role in a series of violent ‘one chance’ robberies across Lagos.
According to the Command, the suspects’ operational vehicle was recovered alongside exhibits including a Tecno Spark 20 smartphone belonging to a victim, an axe, two concrete interlock bricks, several heavy stones suspected to have been used to assault victims, and a broken bottle.

Investigations revealed that the gang operated with commercial minibuses, commonly known as Korope, disguising themselves as regular passengers. They typically picked up unsuspecting commuters from bus stops such as Oshodi before diverting them to secluded areas where victims were robbed under threats and violence.
The case has been transferred to the Command’s Special Squad 1, which has launched a manhunt for other fleeing members of the syndicate with a view to dismantling the network.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers for their swift action, which led to the arrest of the suspects and disruption of the gang’s operations. He also urged residents to exercise caution by avoiding unmarked or suspicious vehicles and to promptly report any criminal activity to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on August 18.
