FG Subsidises Dialysis Cost to N12,000, Says Northwest Not Excluded
The Federal Government has slashed the cost of kidney dialysis in federal tertiary hospitals from N50,000 to N12,000 per session, insisting that the North-West is also captured under the new subsidy scheme contrary to reports of exclusion.
Announcing the intervention, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said the initiative is designed to save lives, ease financial hardship for vulnerable Nigerians, and expand access to universal health coverage.

Implementation has commenced in eleven federal tertiary health institutions spread across the country, with plans to scale up the programme to more hospitals. Beneficiaries include Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, University of Jos Teaching Hospital, National Hospital Abuja, Federal Medical Centre Ebute-Metta, University College Hospital Ibadan, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa, Federal Teaching Hospital Owerri, and Federal Medical Centre Abakaliki.
The ministry, in a statement signed by Deputy Director and Head of Information & Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, reaffirmed that no part of the country would be left out in accessing subsidised dialysis services under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“This intervention is a deliberate initiative of the present administration to bring relief to patients with kidney-related diseases and expand access to universal health coverage,” the ministry said.
