Bandits Abduct Naval Personnel, Family in Kaduna as FCT Police Arrest Armed Robber

Security operatives are responding to separate criminal incidents in Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), involving the abduction of a naval officer with his family and the arrest of a suspected armed robber.

In Kaduna, armed bandits abducted a naval officer, Seaman Olatunji Enoch, 40, alongside his wife, Margaret Olatunji, 25, and their 13-year-old daughter, Hellen Bitrus, in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The attack occurred at about 2:00 a.m. in Unguwan Mission, Kachia Local Government Area, where the officer, attached to NNSAT Kachia, resides.

Security agencies have since launched a cordon-and-search operation in the surrounding bushes aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

In a separate development, the FCT Police Command confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber following a daylight attack at the UK Car Park in Durumi District, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

The victim, Tijani Kaumi of Gwarimpa 3rd Avenue, was lured under the guise of a phone transaction by one Ismail Yakubu, of no fixed address. He was subsequently ambushed by armed accomplices who robbed him of an iPhone 15, an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Nokia phone, a wristwatch, and ₦20,000 cash. The assailants also forced him to transfer ₦100,000 from his Opay account to theirs.

According to Zagazola, police operatives swiftly intervened and arrested one of the suspects, identified as Ismail Aliyu, also of no fixed address. A pistol magazine containing a live round of ammunition was recovered from him. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his fleeing accomplices.

Authorities in both Kaduna and the FCT reiterated their commitment to intensifying security operations and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
