Kano Police Transfer 23 Officers Amid Probe into Alleged Corruption at Sheka Division
The Kano State Police Command has transferred 23 officers, including one directly accused of corrupt practices, from the Sheka Division in a sweeping move to ensure transparency in an ongoing investigation.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered the reorganization following allegations that a police officer, a member of the Police Special Constabulary, and a local vigilante had engaged in corrupt practices.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, preliminary investigations revealed that while one of the accused was indeed a member of the Constabulary and the other a vigilante assisting at Sheka Division, the allegations of corruption remain unproven due to “insufficient and uncorroborated evidence” from the complainant.

The accused parties also leveled a counter-allegation of drug dealing against the complainant, but investigators say this claim, too, has not been substantiated.
To preserve the integrity of the probe and maintain public trust, CP Bakori ordered:
The transfer of the implicated officer alongside 22 others from Sheka Division to other formations;
The suspension of the Special Constabulary member under investigation;
The withdrawal of the vigilante from duties at the Division.
“The ongoing investigation will continue to be conducted thoroughly and impartially, and any individual found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary actions in accordance with the law,” SP Kiyawa said.
The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism and accountability, urging the public to remain patient and continue to provide credible information that could aid investigators.
