Army Hands Over Fake Major to Police in Lagos
The Nigerian Army has arrested and handed over a 36-year-old man, identified as Animashaun Khalid, to the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly impersonating a military officer.
Khalid was apprehended by soldiers of the 9 Brigade, Ikeja, at the Arena Market, Oshodi, after he was found in possession of a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major.
Following his arrest, the suspect was immediately transferred to the police in what authorities described as a seamless operation that highlights strong inter-agency collaboration.

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case has been assigned to the Special Squad I for a detailed investigation. According to him, detectives will focus on tracing the source of the forged ID card, identifying possible accomplices, and establishing whether the suspect had used the fake identity to commit other crimes.
“The case will be charged to court once investigations are concluded,” Hundeyin stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Nigerian Army for the swift arrest and prompt handover of the suspect. He emphasized the importance of synergy among security agencies in tackling criminal activities across the state.
Jimoh also urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security operatives, assuring that continued collaboration among security forces would further strengthen safety in the state.
