NIPR Council Member, Bashir Chedi, Dies at 65

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its council members and stalwarts, Fellow Bashir Chedi, who passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 65.

The Kaduna State Chapter of NIPR, in a condolence statement, described his passing as a painful loss, noting that Chedi was not only a great pillar and mentor within the chapter but also a national figure in the public relations profession. “We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus,” the chapter said.

Chedi, a past Chairman and Secretary of the Kaduna Chapter, rose to become a Fellow of the Institute and a member of its governing council. He also chaired the NIPR Chapters Relations Committee and served in several standing committees at the national level, where he was widely admired for his dedication, humility, and visionary contributions.

Outside his service to NIPR, Chedi built a distinguished career as Director of Corporate Communication, Commercial, and Public Relations at Dornier Aviation Nigeria. In that role, he was instrumental in shaping the company’s reputation and advancing its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

His professional expertise spanned crisis communication, event management, government relations, and corporate strategy, making him one of the most versatile communicators in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

In recognition of his excellence, Chedi received several industry accolades, including the Spokespersons Digest Arewa Communication Star Award, which celebrated his immense contributions to communication practice in Northern Nigeria.

Throughout his career, the late Fellow Chedi attended numerous conferences and training programmes both locally and internationally, where he represented Nigeria and enriched the global conversation on strategic communications.

He is survived by his family, colleagues, mentees, and the wider professional community, all of whom will deeply feel the void left by his passing.
