NIPR Mourns Council Member Chedi, Hails His Dedication to PR Ideals

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed sadness over the passing of a Governing Council Member, late Mallam Bashir Chedi, who died in Kaduna yesterday at the age of 65.

NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku in a condolence message on Tuesday described the late Chedi, a Fellow of the Institute as a pillar of support who had for decades made immense contributions towards the growth and development of the Institute.

Dr. Neliaku said Mallam Chedi’s transition is a great loss not only to the Council but to public relations community in Nigeria, noting that he represented professionalism and excellence with deep commitment to mentorship of young practitioners.

“The death of Council Member Bashir Chedi has created a vacuum, given his experience, wisdom, and counsel, which always came handy in navigating through complex situations, especially at his Chapter. Through hard work and commitment to tenets of our dear profession, he rose to the rank of Fellow, held several leadership positions in the Institute, including serving as Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter and was a Council Member of the NIPR until his demise”, Dr. Neliaku noted.

He prayed God to grant the family and everyone affected by his departure, the fortitude to bear the loss, assuring the Institute’s continued support to the family, especially, at this moment of grief.
