Niger Speaker Applauds Troops After Latest Intelligence Led Anti-Banditry Operation
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has praised Nigerian troops for their recent success in eliminating scores of armed bandits and rescuing abducted victims in the state. The commendation follows a recent, well-coordinated, intelligence-led military operation in Mariga Local Government Area.
According to reports, security forces responded to an alert about the movement of bandits and swiftly engaged them in a fierce gun battle. The clash resulted in the death of numerous assailants, while many others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.
Speaking on the operation, Sarkin-Daji described it as “a demonstration of superior intelligence, training, and firepower.” He further commended the operatives for their exceptional courage.
“My constituents confirmed that the bandits, clearly shaken by the scale of their losses, were seen dismembering the corpses of their dead colleagues, loading them in sacks, and hauling them off on motorcycles,” Sarkin-Daji stated.

Representing the Mariga constituency, the Speaker confirmed that seven kidnapped victims were freed during the operation, and rustled cattle were also recovered from the criminals. This success offers renewed hope for many locals that security agencies are gaining the upper hand against the banditry plaguing the North-Central state.
Community sources in Kumbashi noted that the operation’s success was particularly inspiring because the security operatives, though outnumbered almost six to one, held their ground against the criminals.
In his commendation, Sarkin-Daji urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely information to sustain the momentum against these criminal groups. He also assured that the Assembly would continue to provide legislative backing to enhance security interventions across the state.
The Niger State operation is part of a growing list of successful joint missions by the military and Department of State Services (DSS), reflecting a wider strategy of intelligence-led warfare aimed at dismantling terror and bandit networks throughout the country.
