Nigeria Wins Hosting Rights for International Defence Expo 2026
Nigeria has secured the hosting rights for the International Defence Exhibition 2026, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by African Defence Chiefs at the just-concluded inaugural Africa Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit in Abuja.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who announced the agreement at the closing ceremony, described the development as a landmark moment for Nigeria’s defence diplomacy and Africa’s collective security aspirations.

According to him, the exhibition, scheduled to hold in Lagos, will provide a platform to showcase indigenous defence innovations, deepen military-to-military cooperation, and strengthen public-private partnerships within the defence industry.
“This MoU is a testament to our resolve to work collaboratively as brothers and sisters. The International Defence Exhibition 2026 will bring together global defence stakeholders, highlight Africa’s technological strides, and deepen collaboration across our militaries,” General Musa stated.
The CDS added that the Abuja summit demonstrated Africa’s readiness to take ownership of its security future through cooperation in intelligence-sharing, maritime security, border management, and counterterrorism.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, as well as to African leaders for granting the chiefs permission to attend, noting that Nigeria looks forward to welcoming the continent again in 2026.
