Police Nab Suspected Terrorists in Imo, Fake Soldier in Abuja
In a decisive crackdown on criminal activities, police operatives in Imo State and the Federal Capital Territory have arrested three suspected terrorists and a man impersonating a soldier in separate operations. Arms, ammunition, and other incriminating items were recovered.
The Imo operation took place on Saturday, August 26, when operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by ACP Olademeji Adeyeyi, intercepted and arrested three suspects during a surveillance patrol in the Akata-Awomma community of Oru East Local Government Area.

The suspects were identified as Ikeorji Franklin (33), Ginika Okeke (25), and Okeke Chimankpa (20). A search of their hideout led to the recovery of two pump-action rifles and eight live cartridges. The Imo State Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track other fleeing members of the gang.
In a separate operation in Abuja, the FCT Police Command arrested a 40-year-old man, Abdullahi Salisu, for allegedly impersonating a soldier to extort and deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
Salisu was apprehended on Monday evening by a police ambush team from the Kubwa Division during a routine patrol. A spot search revealed a locally made pistol and a cartridge in his possession. A subsequent search of his residence at the Military Pension Board area uncovered another locally fabricated gun, along with clothing and tokens believed to belong to a civilian JTF unit—items he allegedly used to perfect his disguise and facilitate illicit activities.
Police authorities confirmed that Salisu remains in custody and is undergoing intensive interrogation to establish his true identity and determine his possible involvement in other crimes.
