Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper , Rescue Teenage Victim
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Chigozie Michael Clement, for allegedly kidnapping a seven-year-old boy in Lagos.
The incident occurred on August 25, 2025, when the victim’s father reported to the Alapere Police Division that his son had been taken away by his painter without consent. Shortly after the abduction, the suspect contacted the boy’s mother and demanded a ransom of ₦7 million for his release.

Following the report, the case was transferred to the Command’s Special Squad I for discreet investigation. Acting on intelligence, detectives traced the suspect to Ijegun, Lagos, where he was arrested on August 27, 2025. The young victim was rescued unhurt from a locked room where he had been held captive and has since been reunited with his family.
Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspect confessed to the crime, claiming he resorted to kidnapping to raise money for family needs.
Investigations are ongoing to identify possible accomplices, while the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to tackling crime, stressing that all available resources would continue to be deployed to ensure safety and security across the state.
