OHCSF Celebrates 57 Retirees for Exemplary Service and Dedication

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) hosted a special send-forth ceremony to honour Civil Servants

who retired from the Office in 2024, in recognition of their meritorious service and invaluable contributions to national development.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Dr. Usman Danjuma Kalba, described the occasion as “a celebration of lives dedicated to duty, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty to the nation.” He noted that many of the retirees began their careers as young officers and rose through the ranks, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, commitment, and selfless service.

Dr. Kalba emphasised that retirement marks not the end of service but the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities for rest, reflection, and continued contribution to society. He urged the retirees to remain engaged as mentors, consultants, and community leaders, upholding the enduring values of integrity, hard work, and patriotism.

On behalf of the leadership and staff of the OHCSF, he expressed profound gratitude for the retirees’ exceptional service and extended best wishes for good health, peace, and fulfilment in the years ahead. He also encouraged serving officers to emulate the dedication of the retirees and recommit themselves to the transformation agenda championed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni.

In his welcome remarks, the Director of Human Resources, Mr. Ahmed Joda, described the ceremony as a testament to the Service’s commitment to appreciating selfless service. He acknowledged the support of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and commended Dr. Kalba for initiating the event, stating that “while retirees may be out of sight, they remain valued members of our Civil Service family.”

The ceremony featured goodwill messages from management staff, who praised the retirees for their contributions and offered prayers and best wishes for their future pursuits.

Responding on behalf of the honourees, Mr. Atabor Amedu, a retired Director, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the OHCSF leadership for the recognition, urging serving officers to prepare early for retirement and embrace it as “a natural phase of life to be welcomed positively rather than feared.”

The event, attended by management and staff of the OHCSF, was marked by warm camaraderie, heartfelt reflections, and glowing tributes to the retirees’ enduring legacy of service. A total of 57 officers, from Salary Grade Levels 07 to 17, were honoured.
