Troops Repel Bandit Attack on Military Base, Eliminate Scores in Niger
Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled an attack by armed bandits on their base in Babanna, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, killing several of the assailants, PRNigeria learnt.
According to reliable sources, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when the bandits, riding in large numbers on motorcycles, launched an assault on the military facility.

The troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, during which scores of the bandits were neutralized. “Although the gunmen managed to evacuate most of their casualties, at least one body was left behind,” the sources disclosed.
Following the attack, Zagazola reports that security operatives in the area were placed on heightened alert to prevent a recurrence. The situation in Babanna, however, was said to have returned to relative calm.
Authorities have reassured residents that the military and other security agencies remain vigilant and are maintaining close surveillance to safeguard the community from further threats.
