A large coalition of constituents from Bauchi South, under the banner of the Shehu Buba Organisation (SBO), has formally appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State to persuade Senator Shehu Buba Umar to contest the 2027 governorship election.

The group, comprising community leaders and civil society representatives, staged a peaceful march on Saturday from the APC’s Bauchi Local Government office to the State Party Secretariat, where they submitted a formal request to the party leadership.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ibrahim Baba, Chairman of the SBO, described the demonstration as a civic call rather than a political campaign. He stressed that it reflected the genuine aspirations of Bauchi South residents for “steady, principled, and people-centered leadership.”

“This is not a campaign rally but a civic expression of our people’s wishes,” Baba said. “We want the APC leadership to note that Bauchi South is unanimous in calling on Senator Shehu Buba to consider the governorship path.”

Baba praised the senator’s record at the National Assembly, noting that his two years in office had been “remarkable, impactful, and people-driven.”

Echoing the call, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Senator Buba, described his principal as “the most credible APC leader in Bauchi State.” He argued that the senator’s steadfast commitment had kept the party vibrant since its 2023 electoral defeat. “If he gets the governorship ticket, the PDP will be history in Bauchi,” Muhammad declared.

Receiving the group, State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde, commended the SBO for its peaceful and organized approach. He assured them that the party would guarantee a level playing field for all aspirants during the primaries to ensure that the most qualified candidate emerges.
