Preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons were being transported from Hadejia in Jigawa State to Safana LGA, Katsina. Authorities say the deadly cargo could have fueled violent attacks if it had slipped through security checks.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, hailed the police for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the operation as “a crushing blow to criminal supply chains.”
“This successful interception demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to disrupting networks of violence before they endanger innocent citizens,” he said in a statement.
Police have launched a full investigation to trace the origin of the sophisticated arsenal, identify other members of the gun-running network, and determine its ultimate destination.
The Katsina State Government pledged continued support for security agencies in their efforts to tackle criminality and safeguard lives and property across the state.
