The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and charged a 60-year-old man, identified as Ajayi Femi, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman after drugging her in the Meiran area of Lagos.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident was first reported on August 22, 2025, by the victim’s sister at Meiran Police Station. The case was immediately transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for discreet investigation.

Investigations revealed that the suspect spiked the survivor’s drink, rendering her unconscious, before allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with her without consent. Police said the suspect also made a confessional statement during interrogation. Medical examinations further confirmed the assault.

The suspect has since been charged to court and remanded in prison custody pending the next adjourned date.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences while maintaining public safety. He also urged members of the public to promptly report such cases at the Family Support Units across police divisions and area commands for immediate action.
