Police Neutralize Armed Robber on Zaria-Kano Highway, Arrest Notorious Suspect
The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and neutralized one of his accomplices during a foiled highway robbery operation along the Zaria-Kano road.
The incident, which occurred on August 31 at about 2:00 a.m., followed a swift response by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit acting on credible intelligence about criminal activities in the area.
Police sources confirmed that the team intercepted and arrested Abubakar Umar, 30, of Sabon Tsara, Kidandan, Giwa Local Government Area, who sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm during the operation.

Upon interrogation, Umar allegedly confessed to conspiring with two other suspects: Haruna Snn, also known as Maiduna, and Sani Umar, who is currently at large, to barricade the highway and dispossess travelers of their valuables.
However, during the robbery attempt, the gang was reportedly attacked by unidentified gunmen driving a grey Sienna vehicle. The confrontation left Haruna critically injured. He was later confirmed dead at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.
Confirming the development, security operatives disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect while investigations continue into the case.
The Kaduna Police Command reassured motorists and commuters of its commitment to ensuring safety along major highways in the state.
